SUMMARY: The Sr. Category Marketing Manager role is responsible for leading the Prepared Foodservice Business Unit's volume growth and margin expansion strategies (in partnership with total Tyson Enterprise). Responsibilities include pro-actively developing, implementing and executing all category-related activities including role of the portfolio, SKU optimization, margin/mix management, category and customer specific strategic pricing, identifying cost savings initiatives, gathering competitive intelligence, verifying product cost drivers, and driving development of long and short-term category strategies and tactics. Communicates relevant issues with the Director of BU Category Marketing; Engage with cross functional teams to evaluate and understand any product profitability issues. Responsible for leading work around optimizing product assortment, category pricing, and cost structure; Work with product change projects, including value quality improvement initiatives and innovation launches. Develop recommendations with Director of BU Category Marketing to present to the BU organization on category strategy, selling propositions, and work closely with Revenue Management and BU on category opportunities; Monitor industry trends, market share, product FMV, competitive activity, and competitive product cuttings; ultimately achieving category goals and financial objectives. Candidates should be comfortable working with cross-functional project teams that include Trade, R&D, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and Marketing functional support. Can manage large numbers of complex projects simultaneously with a proven track record of living our Customer Commitment, both internally and externally.
EDUCATION: Bachelor degree in a business, marketing, foodservice or related discipline required; MBA preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 6-7 years of experience in marketing and or related field; Knowledge of foodservice and or CPG industry preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Excel Word and PowerPoint
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication including presentation skills.
SPECIAL SKILLS if applicable: Ability to develop strategic plans and annual business plans that align resources to achieve the marketing and financial goals. Strong financial acumen. Strong category marketing and general business management skills. Ability to assess the skills and developmental needs of subordinates and provide appropriate coaching and guidance. Strong leadership skills with the ability to create and articulate a vision and drive results. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to excel as a project leader in a fast-paced changing environment. Ratio of marketing versus operations product management skill and experience varies by business unit and category.
SUPERVISORY: Position may have direct reports
