Position Description POSITION TITLE: Hourly Homebound Special Education Teacher FLSA: Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly, 4 per week (e.g. 1 hour 4 days a week or 2 hours 2 days a week). May meet at a neutral location, i.e. public library, or virtuallyto be agreed upon by teacher, parents and student. LOCATIONS: To be determined QUALIFICATIONS: Must be an Arkansas Certified teacher. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Confer with the classroom teacher on a regular basis in coordinating the instructional programs, assignments and materials utilized and/or needed by each student. Establish and maintain communication with campus teachers, parents, students and Homebound/Hospital Program staff Teach mastery of skills in content area with the goal of returning the student to school. Meet and instruct assigned students in the location and at the time designated Implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment as assigned by the director. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain emotional control under stress. Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling. Hourly Rate $25.00 per hour
