Alternative Design Manufacturing, a growing metal fabrication
company located in Siloam Springs, AR since 1987, is seeking a
-Mechanical Design Engineer -to join our team! The specific
position plays a key role in fulfilling various duties and
responsibilities. They are to work closely with the engineering
manager to create a comprehensive action plan concerning each
project's design resources, material, and
timeframes.SUMMARY:Perform product design duties in planning and
designing fabricated equipment, machines, and tooling. Create
drawings for use by production. Work with customers, vendors, and
co-workers in various departments to deliver well-designed products
on time. Oversee manufacturing, operation, maintenance, and repair
of such equipment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -include

functions. - Assist in developing the design of products (primarily
sheet metal and tubing) using 3D computer-assisted design (CAD) and
drafting software. - Research, design, evaluate, install, operate,
and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes
to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications,
manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and
maintenance requirements of designs or applications. - Read and
interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and
computer-generated reports. - Confer with designers and other
personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system
malfunctions, and provide technical information. - Specify system
components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance
with engineering design and performance specifications. -
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty
operation, and to make recommendations to repair. - Oversee
installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that
machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to
specifications. - Conduct research that tests and analyzes the
feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment,
components, and systems. - Recommend design modifications to
eliminate machine or system malfunctions. - Develop and test models
of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility,
operating condition effects, possible new applications, and
necessity of modification. - Develop, coordinate, and monitor all
aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing
methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs. - Estimate
costs and timelines for engineering design projects. - Provide
technical customer service. - Write performance requirements for
product development or engineering projects. - Other duties may be

-Bachelor's Degree (four-year college) in Mechanical Engineering or
similar discipline (Manufacturing, Electrical, etc.) Knowledge of
basic electrical concepts is preferred.Experience: -Hands-on
experience with fabrication equipment and general tools is
preferred. Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting is
preferred.Computer Skills3+ years' experience with any 3D modeling
software preferred (Solid Edge is a plus). Sheet metal design
experience is strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD or
similar 2D drafting software. Experience with ERP/workflow
management software. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
