This role will be part of a team that is responsible for plant readiness and the plant adoption of standard automated and robotic systems at Tyson Foods. The role will consist of visiting plant locations, documenting opportunities related to automation and improving the use of Tyson standard automated solutions through training and development of plant personnel. The automation team is responsible for identifying opportunities, developing proof of concept solutions and programmatically rolling out approved solutions. This position will provide ongoing support and training for installed standard automation solutions, focused on systematic and sustainable improvement and ongoing feedback into RND teams for enhancements to technology.

It will require a strong partnerships with the Information Technology team, Continuous improvement team, Reliable Maintenance and training teams, existing engineering groups, production plant leadership and executive leadership.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Visit plant locations, learn and understand the production processes; identify and document automation training gaps and opportunities.
• Audit/measure automation/robotics specific training effectiveness and build comprehensive and sustainable training plans based on plant's needs.
• Provide training for Tyson standard automation solutions to audiences including operations, maintenance, management, etc.
• Work with Mechanical and Electrical teams, and Engineers to integrate production hardware and software.
• Facilitate complex problem-solving skills, enhanced collaboration across functional groups, and support development efforts for current manufacturing hardware and software.
• The position entails rigorous process discipline and documentation practices as well as excellent cross-functional communication skills to assure functionality, safety, reliability and quality of the product.
• Assess the financial and efficiency impacts of automation related opportunities and form analysis in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• This position may require up to 75% of travel.

  • A passion for modern technology, a true desire to leverage the most advanced technologies available to improve worker safety, operational efficiency, and financial impacts
  • Associates Degree in technical field or equivalent certifications in Automation, Industrial Maintenance or Operations management or similar field of study. Or at least 3 years of direct related hands-on experience in industrial manufacturing or maintenance.
  • Robotics/Automation experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated and self-accountable.
  • Experience in data analytics and trend analysis used to develop optimum solutions.
  • LEAN/CI knowledge and practical experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated technical writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, and works well with others.
  • Ability to simplify complex material in terms of training/facilitating.
  • Experience with industrial Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
  • Should demonstrate a strong interest in cross-functional project work.
    • Knowledge of or experience with HMIs through Inductive Automation's Ignition platform to understand existing solutions that are in place.
