Open Position - ICW Director * Full Time *Exempt Status * Wage: TBD based on education & experience Summary: Under the supervision of the Tribal Administrator the ICW Director plans,directs and manages the ICW department by guiding and overseeing the staff and monitoring cases to ensure the Eastern Shawnee Tribal families and children are protected from abuse and neglect and ensuring the highest quality child care for Eastern Shawnee and other Native American children. The highest duty of this position is to provide effective and timely service delivery to Tribal members. Qualifications:
--- Master's Degree preferred or Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field with at least 4 years relevant experience
--- Must have 3-5 years supervisory experience
--- Knowledge of and experience with grant writing funding and management required
--- SASSI certification desirable
--- No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children or illegal drugs
--- Must be able to pass TB Test
--- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and adjudicated background check after conditional offer of employment is made
--- Must have favorable verifiable employment references
--- Valid Driver's License
Responsibilities:
--- Manages and coordinates the ICW department by setting guidelines and policies for child abuse and neglect, prevention, court treatment services, foster care and adoption
--- Management and oversight of all ICW funding
--- Report on and close out any grants for department
--- Oversees interdepartmental audits
--- Actively seeks new grant funding for the growth and further development of ICW services
--- Provides leadership and direction to support staff of approximately 1-2 people
--- Monitoring of all cases placed by court
--- Conducts or directs staff in development of programs provided by department
--- Participates in development and implementation of departmental policy
--- Assigns caseloads and related duties
--- Coordinates activities of staff in providing counseling services to assist clients with problems of emergency or crisis nature
--- Manages and prepares correspondence and reports
--- Answers inquiries from individuals, agencies, attorneys, courts and general public about Eastern Shawnee Tribal Policy on Federal Indian Child Welfare Act and services available. Provides referrals as necessary.
--- Create and effectively manage budgets for programs listed previously; Ensure that all requisitions for expenses are complete and accurate with appropriate codes and within budget guidelines
--- Supervise subordinates efficiently, in a way that builds camaraderie, team building and a positive atmosphere.
--- Represent the Tribe in a professional manner at all times, when working with Tribal members, in dealings with outside entities and situations with fellow employees This position will be posted internally/externally concurrently for 10 days
Native American preference policy is as follows: Legally enrolled Eastern Shawnee Tribal members shall be given preference if the tribal member's experience, qualifications, training, and all other criteria included in the job posting are equal. Tribal Members or Citizens of other Federally Recognized Tribes shall have second preference following the same criteria, followed by any other applicants. (Resolution # 021011-R-03) Only Certified Degree of Indian Blood cards will be accepted as verification of Native American Heritage for other tribes.
