As a Senior Quality Control Manager, you will oversee multiple distribution centers within a region to ensure quality, freshness, and food safety of grocery products as they flow from suppliers through distribution centers to stores and clubs by implementing and monitoring quality control policies and procedures. You will teach quality inspection practices to provide consistency of execution, and continuous quality improvement processes across Fresh categories. You know your supplier and customer needs better than anyone else and are constantly thinking about what is next for your business. Success in this role requires tenacity, a member mindset, influence, and a competitive spirit. You'll use your executive presence to work with suppliers and cross functional team members at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges. You'll sweep us off our feet if--- * You have expert knowledge and understanding of Methodologies used by USDA and AMS * You like digging into data and doing some analysis * You're excited about solving complex challenges * You're comfortable influencing others, leading teams, managing stakeholders, getting buy-in from leadership, and communicating clearly * You enjoy training and developing associates, delivering trainings programs through multiple media and developing educational material * You're customer-centric in spirit and in execution * You have a competitive spirit of being in front of trend and innovation * You have a test and learn mentality and an agile way of working to improve your team's products You'll make an impact by: * Leading the Sam's Club Fresh Quality team in a Distribution Center (DC) with emphasis on providing the best possible quality for all fresh commodities using an end-to-end Quality Management strategy. * Directing training of new Fresh Quality team members in Sam's Ways of Working and Quality Management techniques. * Overseeing quality, freshness, and food safety of fresh grocery products in a distribution center as they flow from suppliers through distribution centers to clubs. * Supervising/Performing inspections of inbound fresh produce & floral, poultry, meat, and seafood for adherence to Sam's Club specifications by fresh team members. * Driving companywide initiatives to control costs and deliver high quality products to Sam's Club members. * Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. * Overseeing Seafood Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan * Overseeing Sam's fruit ripening program daily. * Oversees cold chain compliance within the distribution center to ensure products are kept at proper temperature. * Providing guidance to DC management and personnel in matters that affect product quality. * Providing communication on fresh product quality to the merchant group and other relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of perishable products. * Interfacing with the vendor community regarding quality of products being received into Sam's Club Distribution Centers and may make suggestions on quality improvement. * Visit suppliers and clubs to check quality of our products and current supply conditions. * May liaise with Walmart QC inspection team regarding quality inspections in some DC's. Preferred Qualifications: * 6 years supervisory experience. * Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Food Science, or related field and 2 years' experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field OR 6 years' experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field. * 5 year's retail produce inspection experience or USDA inspection experience. * 2-3 years' experience in vendor management, food safety or a related field. * 5 years' experience of poultry or meat industry experience, preferably quality related. * 2 years' experience using basic Microsoft Office functionality (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook). * 5 years fruit ripening experience. * 10 years' experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field.
