Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead and direct a global multi-functional team to achieve genetic gains and competitive advantage through alignment of Cobb's breeding program with Cobb's product strategy in a portfolio of products as established by Cobb's executive team.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President, R&D, this role will supervise a team, including Quantitative Geneticists, Biotechnologists, Pedigree Geneticists and Statisticians.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Collaborating with multiple departments in development and execution of a breeding program strategy that is aligned with the company's product strategy and portfolio needs.
• Building annual work plans and budgets supporting the activities of the breeding program and ensuring the execution of research activities to address current product improvement and new product development goals.
• Collaborating with multiple departments in directing the Pedigree and Pipeline Selection alignment and training efforts aimed at maximizing genetic progress delivered to the customer.
• Actively participating, with the VP of R&D, in developing short-term and long-term strategies to assure alignment of R&D activities with business goals.
• Interacting on a regular basis with the Sr. Director of Genetics/Biotech and the Director of Product Testing to assure that the activities and deliverables of the R&D group meet the needs and expectations of all Cobb business units.
• Representing Cobb at industry, governmental or university related committees as needed to support research or business goals.
• Developing an organization capable of accessing and leveraging existing external research capabilities, while improving the technical expertise of the company in the practical application of technologies that drive the breeding program.
• Actively participating in genetic workshops to review the genetic progress of each pedigree and research line, and to review new traits and product research.
• Attending bi-annual management retreats to update company senior staff on programs for current and test products and to obtain directions for future product development.
  
  Biosecurity Requirements: When visiting jobsites biosecure environments showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species chickens ducks birds . The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
  
  Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms balance stoop talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
  
  Personal Protective Equipment: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
