Director Meat Procurement - Poultry & Sows

This role is to lead a team and provide strategic sourcing and procurement required to meet current and future goals of the company in accordance with Tyson's mission, vision, and values.

Sourcing & Supply Management accountabilities:

• Has responsibility for Chicken, Turkey, and Sow Procurement which encompasses sourcing and negotiation of raw materials & live animals, inventory & vendor management, commodity sales liquidation of excess meat commodity materials as well as the overall strategy and design of the category.
• Responsible for defining procurement strategy to establish supply sources, maximize current and future market conditions, and define contingency planning to ensure critical supplies are met.
  • Responsible for cost savings, risk avoidance, and process improvement results between $1-3MM annually
  • Establish and maintain portfolio of strategic agreements and key supplier relationships; managing performance metrics, leading business reviews, and managing any escalations
    
    Employee Development & Mentoring accountabilities:
    
    • Train procurement team members on waste reduction and efficiency tasks such as reporting duplication, cost savings, system enhancements, etc.
    • Leads projects that involve cross functional sub-set of junior team members within Tyson to support optimizing the One Tyson mindset
    • Support the development of critical thinking skill sets by challenging current processes to ensure the team is always evolving
    • Relied on for escalating important topics and getting a resolution across numerous functional areas in conjunction with executive leadership
    • Consistently develops managers to understand the importance of being a people leader
      
      BU & Sales Support of/for Customer Pricing:
      
      • Responsible for production and oversight of the inputs needed from Meat Procurement to support monthly pricing discussion in both Retail and Foodservice business as well as historical market reviews and presentations, financial standards, company consensus commodity forecast.
        
        Qualifications:
        
        • Demonstrates procurement leadership experience or experience in related operational fields such as Manufacturing, Logistics, Operations, or Supply Chain.
        • Should show a strong understanding of operational aspects of the company from raw materials through delivering to the customer (internal and external).
        • Ability to present complex information in a variety of ways to facilitate group decision-making
        • Must be a quick study, proven ability to manage change, ability to work across boundaries and borders, and strong decision making.
        • Excellent communicator, politically persuasive, demonstrated skills in collaboration, proven ability to develop direct reports.
          
          Requirements
          
          Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Animal Science, Agricultural Economics or related field of study.
          
          Master's Degree is preferred.
          
          Experience: 8+ years of experience in procurement, procurement operations, operations; meat procurement experience a plus.
