Job Description:

The Material Handler safely performs position specific responsibilities in line with Action Stainless & Alloys/Olympic Steel's Core Values to ensure the highest level of productivity and quality while adhering to all relevant company policies and procedures. Responsible for order pulling to support sales and production processes. Supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and strives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in all areas of responsibility. These activities may include movement of work-in-progress material on the production floor, finished goods staging, raw material and finished goods preparation for shipping. Is a safety leader at all times by personally observing all safety requirements and ensuring compliance from co-workers and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications

* Experienced fork lift operator of metal products, i.e. sheet, plate, angle, round bar, etc.
* Basic math skills required.
* Ability to read order pullers.
* Ability to use and read a tape measure.
* Precisely follow detailed and extensive instructions.
* Mechanically inclined, production oriented, and safety and quality conscious.
* Proven reliability.
* Self-motivated with ability to work under general supervision.
* Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality conformance using measuring devices.
* Team oriented with effective communication skills.
* Fine motor and gross motor coordination.
* Functional literacy.
