Job Details:OVERALL GOAL:The overall goal of the CI Manager at the
facility is to become operations 'go-to person', and be involved in
all facets of the business. The CI Manager should be able to
collaboratively work with all support departments to understand
needs and be able to provide guidance. SUMMARY: The Continuous
Improvement Leader is responsible for building and maintaining a
strong and long-lasting culture of continuous improvement. This
person will deliver continuous improvement training and actions
throughout the facility while serving as the Subject Matter Expert
on Continuous Improvement. They will provide direction to
Production Team Members Engineers and Functional Leaders throughout
the facility This individual will lead and grow a culture of
Continuous Improvement and Change Management with all activities at
Tyson. The CI Manager will facilitate continuous improvement
projects focused on Team Member food safety quality improvements
on-time delivering inventory and cost reductions and process
performance improvements. They will provide efficient leadership
and cost-effective integration of Continuous Improvement creating
operational excellence. Responsibilities include: Facilitate
successful Kaizen and rapid improvement process events; Assist in
the collection of data identifying opportunities and for tracking
improvements; Ensure that all work activities are performed in
accordance with established safety and environmental standards;
Demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to Lean manufacturing
principles and techniques; Develops strategies and programs that
improve the productivity and efficiency of the various work
processes of the company; Instructs others in continuous process
improvements including the use of various problem solving and
productivity techniques such as process mapping standardized work
six sigma and cost time management; Facilitates Continuous
Improvement projects cost reductions and process performance
improvements; Maintain CI implementation schedules for assigned
projects progress updates as required and most importantly provide
documentation that demonstrates the direct link between CI
implementation and Plant Operations improvements; Provide CI
training and coaching to all levels of the organization; Interface
with plant leadership on projects addressing staffing manpower time
and capacity analysis; Calculate cost reductions and or various
analyses to determine optimal problem solving method; Partner with
the Plant Controller to document savings and profit results of
continuous improvement activities; Accountable for tracking all CI
Projects and reporting progress to plant staff; Evaluate confirm
production standards for products; Assist in monitoring department
equipment OEE and interface with Maintenance department to identify
maintenance repair and TPM targets and opportunities; Works with
process owner to develop value stream map for each process and each
value stream family within the facility; Utilizes the concepts of
continuous improvement and cost reduction in the execution of the
job function; Other direction as assigned by Senior Manager of
Continuous Improvement. Primary Responsibilities:Manage Tyson
Productivity System -50% Serve as a Teacher/Coach/Leader for all
Tyson Productivity System functions.Be proficient in all 5 TPS
Systems, and able to teach with confidence.Inspire behavioral
changes through coaching in 1-on-1 or group settings.Maintain
aggressive timelines and schedules for TPS Implementation.Partner
with Operations in the implementation, while transitioning to an
Operations owned TPS.Performance Review / Variances -15% Be able to
understand Operational Variances, and know where to target to
address opportunities at the facility.Working knowledge of Plant
Variances, and understanding the development of them.Able to
understand variances so that the opportunity can be identified on
the operations floor.Able to develop action-plans with the Team to
overcome the current obstacles (RCA).Performance-oriented Project
Development -15% Work with facility on identifying potential
cost-savings projects through technology changes, implementation of
automation, or general equipment upgrades.Cross-functionally work
with Team to identify potential projects, and perform research for
feasibility of project.Develop CIR's for cost-savings projects, and
work with Accounting Team on developing the potential payback for
the project.Follow project to fruition as needed, but should avoid
becoming a 'project manager'. DOES NOT write CIR's for simple
expenditure type CIR's.Labor Management -10% Work with the local
Operations and HR Team in understanding Plant Staffing, and be able
to help facilitate discussion around opportunities with regards to
labor utilization and maintain plant operating within predetermined
Engineered Standards.Able to perform EASE studies to assist
Standard Costing group with standards development.Understand plant
needs for crewing and able to provide guidance utilizing
data.Create reports for the Operations Team to fully understand
current state of labor utilization.Operational Training -10% Teach
and Coach the local facility with respect to multiple facets of
training. This involves training on all levels.Perform Lean
training with Supervisors, and able to facilitate as well as create
successful Waste Elimination Teams.Work with Operations on Waste
Elimination and 5S opportunities.Perform Lean training with all
Hourly Team Members entering the facility during orientation
classes.All other trainings as needed (i.e., impromptu as-needed
specific type training sessions). REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor
s degree; preferably in the field of Engineering or Business OR
equivalent combination of education and experience Experience: 5
plus years of demonstrated Continuous Improvement experience OR 5
plus years of leadership experience in a lean manufacturing
environment AND preferred work towards Six Sigma Green Belt or
Black Belt certification Communication Skills: Ability to
effectively engage people at all levels of the business; strong
coaching and mentoring skills Travel: 4 or less trips per year.
Specific Skills: Strong Business acumen; Strong LEAN 5S and other
Continuous Improvement skills; Strong process management background
