Job Description:

MAJOR FUNCTION

This position will require interaction and involvement on a global scale in Global Transport Compliance, Customs & Export Control.

Requirements of this position will involve accountability for the US and develop into a Global role, that will cover all Customs, Compliance and Export Control related matters on a global scale.

The position is responsible for examining and appraising imported merchandise according to the revenue office laws, in order to enforce regulations of U.S. Customs Service. Also, is responsible for reviewing accompanying documentation according to import requirements considering legal restrictions, country of origin, import quotas and current market values. Determine the duty and taxes to be paid on imported merchandise considering its classification and value. Determines and reports evidence of intent to defraud and violations of trademark, copyright, ADD/CVD, and IPR. Notifies Other Government Agencies responsible for particular import inspections or denies permits to release imported merchandise for delivery, depending on meeting legal requirements. Works closely with operations, transportation, buyers, domestic and international suppliers, procurement, sourcing, logistics, and brokers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

IMPORTANCE

Determine and assign appropriate Harmonized Tariff Codes, schedule B numbers, and classify dual use items using internal and external resources

Comply U.S. Customs, OGA s, FTA s and Global Trade Laws in the importing and exporting of the goods

Work with procurement team, USDC planning team, and global and domestic suppliers to optimize the processes and obtain the suppliers declarations for appropriate NAFTA reporting , standard and FTA s Certificates of Origin

Create policies and procedures to ensure that U.S. Customs laws are adhered to and that relevant data is collected and updated

Monitor changes to Harmonized Tariff Code information from government authorities and apply to ERP LN data

Do monthly reporting on duties, identify and implement duty savings

Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor s degree preferred (International Business, Logistics, Brokerage, Supply Chain, Transportation etc.) or comparable work experience, in. 8 years from the importer side , freight forwarder or a carrier.

EXPERIENCE:

* U.S. Customs clearance knowledge of import/export, and Other Government Agencies such as ADD/CVD, IPR, Import/Export Trade Law

* Basics of Global Trade Management, Free Trade Agreements such as NAFTA, CAFTA, UCFTA, JFTA, AGOA and PP.

* Previous experience in Import/Export or Logistics/Supply Chain with Customs regulatory knowledge of at least 5 years.

* Having knowledge and skills within Global Export Control and Trade, will be beneficial.

KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

* Expert knowledge of USHTS, US Customs laws and classifying.

* Identifying and correcting invalid data. Documents and communicates standards and provides reporting. Interacts with internal and external customers, suppliers, sourcing, buyers, and procurement, project and customer driven and maintains data specifications.

* Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to be multi-tasked.

* Must have the ability to work and perform in a structured way, having self-discipline and be a key team player.

* Must be able to work cross-functionally and be able to adapt to work across multiple global time zones from all areas and cultures of the organization.

* Must be skilled in reports, charts and graphs, and be able to present data facts, KPI s measurements to the organization or in team meetings.

* Must have excellent communication skills, orally and written form.
